Lucknow: Through the joint efforts of Lucknow Police and the Prosecution Department under Operation Conviction, the Special Judge (POCSO), Lucknow, has sentenced accused Suresh Srivastava to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹52,000 in a case registered at Krishna Nagar police station.
Brief background
In line with directions from the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, and under the ongoing Operation Conviction — aimed at controlling crime and ensuring maximum convictions for offenders through rigorous court follow-up — Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba and Joint Police Commissioner (Crime & Headquarters) Aparna Kumar have been overseeing intensive prosecution efforts across the city.
Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Md. Mushtaq, and guidance from Additional DCP (South) Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Krishna Nagar, Abhishek Kumar Pandey, this case was pursued diligently by a team led by Inspector-in-Charge Krishna Nagar, Pradyumna Kumar Singh. The sustained efforts of Public Prosecutors Abhishek Upadhyay and Arun Kumar, court clerks Head Constable Praveen Kumar Verma, Head Constable Nidhesh Kumar and Constable Nimesh Kumar, along with the case’s local investigating officer, Woman Constable Sushma Swaraj, led to a strong prosecution in court.
As a result, in a landmark judgment delivered on August 5, 2026, the Special Judge (POCSO), Lucknow, convicted the accused in Case No. 716/2019 (FIR No. 347/2019), registered under Sections 376, 506, 120B IPC and 3/4 of the POCSO Act at Krishna Nagar police station.
The accused, Suresh Srivastava, son of the late Laxmi Shankar Lal Srivastava, resident of 55-A/604 Kanausi, near Kaluveer Temple, Mankanagar police station, Lucknow, was found guilty under Section 376 IPC and Sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹50,000. He was additionally sentenced to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹2,000 under Section 506 IPC.
